Position Objective Summary: Creates, maintains, and coordinates a service-order based dispatching system to effectively dispatch work orders and outage tickets to system construction and repair crew. To manage outage situations using the Outage Management systems. Performs other tasks as directed by supervisor
Education High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience Two years work experience in dispatching maintenance personnel desirable.
Mental and Physical Requirements The mental and physical requirements for this position (Dispatcher) include, but are not limited to the following:
- Must possess the ability to communicate in exchanging information clearly and concisely with position’s supervisor, employees and the general public.
- Must possess the ability to operate telephone, two-way radio, calculator, keyboards, perform data input, retrieve data contained in computer system, computer operations, and other related activities.
- Must be able to retrieve information via color-coded SCADA computer system. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, safety materials, and other work related documents.
- Must have the ability to read consumer billing history and perform mathematical computations necessary to inform consumer of bill amount due.
- Must represent the Cooperative in a professional manner at all times, through appearance and actions taken.
- Must possess the ability to perform duties on an individual basis with minimal direct supervision.
- Must be able to work nonstandard work hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: A: Operations Weight: 60%
- Apply Headway/Hotline tags for crews in the field.
- Operate opening and closing breakers remotely via Scada.
- Handle load control process when called.
- Monitor SCADA alarms for faults and signs of trouble.
- Assist in transmission switching procedures.
- Evaluate nightly voltage readings.
- Notify lineman and contractors of any remaining Hotline tags or Headways still in use on SCADA in the evening.
- Operates a two-way radio.
- Make contact with CRC to turn over Dispatch and update after hours contact information if needed.
- Provides service and line crew personnel with the necessary information to restore service.
- Trains new cooperative employees on dispatch procedures and conducts periodic procedural reviews to correct problem areas.
- Run open service report.
- Monitor CRC emails.
- Run close outage report once a week.
- Monitor OMS and dispatch outages including emergency calls County and State emergency response personnel.
B: Safety Weight: 10%
- Monitor security cameras.
- Monitor and send out emails for anyone entering a substation.
- Monitors crews for safety.
C: Member Relations Weight: 30%
- Dispatch/process service orders and takes appropriate action within scope of knowledge and authority.
- Supports the Cooperatives Strategic Plan Mission and Vision Statements.
- Create check rate service orders for new accounts.
- Run collections daily.
- Post Social Media updates for large outages.
- Review final bill prebill edit report.
- Review denied autopayments and make contact with the member.
- Assemble new member packets and mail.
- Will be trained in Member Service Representative duties and be called upon to work in the Call Center as needed.
- Answers telephone inquiries and routes calls to appropriate personnel.
- Keeps thoroughly informed of all promotional efforts of the Cooperative and discusses with members all Dispatcher aspects and benefits of the program.
- Whenever feasible and necessary, advises members in energy conserving methods and habits.
- Keeps supervisor informed of trends in repetitive complaints, questions, or requests for information.
- Represents the Cooperative as necessary or as assigned in public and community functions or projects.
