Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church (FCPC) is seeking an individual who is passionate about youth ministry to join our team as the Minister of Youth and Young Adults. This position is integral to forming youth as disciples of Jesus Christ; fostering their deeper belonging to the community of Christ and participation in God’s mission through the church; and equipping the youth for ministries of service, justice, and compassion. The candidate will possess a joyful Christian faith, a welcoming and hospitable spirit, as well as strong leadership and relational skills. As the Minister of Youth and Young Adults, the position will continue our traditional youth group and confirmation class programming and explore other opportunities and initiatives to increase youth involvement and discipleship. As a member of the ministry staff, this person will work collaboratively with the pastors and other staff to ensure continued success and growth.

Responsibilities:

Youth and Young Adult Ministries

  • Develop and implement comprehensive youth ministry programs that align with the values and mission of the church.
  • Plan and lead weekly youth gatherings, including worship, teaching, discussion, and fellowship activities.
  • Disciple youth and young adult members of the church and community teaching them to love, follow, and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Serve as a caring, Christian role model, living out the joy and hope of the Christian faith.
  • Plan and lead confirmation classes, retreats, mission trips, service projects, and special events for youth and young adult participation.
  • Recruit, equip, and support volunteer leaders to assist in youth and young adult ministry activities.
  • Collaborate with church leadership, parents, and other stakeholders to effectively communicate youth ministry initiatives and events.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other churches to engage youth in outreach and partnership opportunities.
  • Stay informed about trends, issues, and resources related to youth and young adult ministries, integrating relevant insights and practices into program development.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and feedback for evaluation and improvement purposes.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities, as well as related committee, deacon, and session meetings when necessary.
  • Be a visible presence on Sunday mornings and participate in worship leadership, when appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with preference to candidates with previous experience working with youth and young adults in a church or ministry setting.
  • Passion and vision to help a congregation live into a missional identity.
  • Deep understanding of Christian theology and a personal commitment to living out the Gospel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with youth of varying age, interest, and backgrounds.
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to plan, delegate, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Creativity and innovation in developing engaging and relevant youth/young adult programs and activities and hands-on mission opportunities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and congregants.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Proficiency in relevant technology and media platforms for communication and program delivery.

Additional Requirements:

  • Obtain all appropriate clearances and adhere to FCPC’s child protection policy.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional travel for events and retreats.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

This is a part-time position, expected 18-24 hours each week. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
