Position Summary
The General Production Laborer on the Harvest Floor is responsible for following established procedures to humanely slaughter and process animals. This role requires meeting line speed and quality goals set by the Harvest Manager while ensuring operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and humanely. Maintaining cleanliness, regulatory compliance, and contributing to team success are key aspects of this position.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will follow safe working procedures while assisting in the beef slaughter processes, including but not limited to:
- Unloading and segregating live animals in a humane manner in preparation for processing on the Harvest Floor.
- Humanely stunning animals to prepare for processing.
- Removing hides using knives, handsaws, and other powered equipment.
- Harvesting blood and other offal products on the Harvest Floor.
- Trimming carcasses to ensure they are free of contaminants.
- Operating scales and monitoring production line efficiency and speed.
- Adhering to Humane Handling, Sanitary Dressing, Safe Practices, and all regulatory compliance standards.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods while performing physical, repetitive tasks.
- Gripping, grasping, lifting, or pushing items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Working in a hot, wet, and humid environment.
Work Schedule
- Full-time hourly position: 8 to 12 hours per day.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or similar work environment preferred.
