Job Summary
Administrative position responsible for all clerical duties related to the Loan Department at Franklin First. This includes communicating with members regarding their loans and the various loan products that the credit union offers. This job requires both customer service skills as well as good organizational skills. The Loan Associate will be acting as a support to the loan department so interpersonal skill is also a must.
The Loan Associate position will be a transitional role for the right person. After learning and becoming proficient in the administrative duties the Loan Associate will be asked to begin training to be able to meet with members and complete both consumer and mortgage loans.
Loan Associate Essential Functions
- Responsible for all paper and electronic titles with which the Credit Union is a lien holder
- Filing loan files and all relevant documents in the proper place.
- Maintaining retention/destruction schedule
- Processing adverse actions and loan payoffs: releasing the liens on our titles and sending them to the proper owner, insurance company or dealership.
- Filing the correct paperwork to have the Registry of Motor vehicles put the Credit Union on as lien holders; keeping track of all electronic titles that are stored in a database.
- Following up with members to locate/receive any documentation that is missing from a loan file.
- Responsible for assisting members with access to Visa credit card portal and troubleshooting Visa credit card issues.
- Oversee and process tax escrows
- Work with collections company to provide necessary reports/loan documentation and process payments.
Loan Officer Essential Functions
- Gather background information on loan applicants by conducting interviews and obtaining. Credit Bureau reports. Assist members with loan application process to ensure completeness of information. Process loan applications: review and act on consumer loans to authorized limits.
- Approve or deny loan applications following appropriate policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Explore alternative options for members when loans are denied.
- Complete loan documents and disburse funds when loans are approved.
- Cross sell products by suggesting any credit union products and services that might be appropriate for them.
- Assist in various duties to ensure efficient operation of credit union.
- Perform other similar duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.
Experience/Qualifications
- Lending experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate.
- Fluent in Spanish (Preferred)
- Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- Reliably commute
