The Franklin Public Schools, a Prek-12 district, is seeking a skilled and experienced special education assistant to work in the STRIVE Program at Keller Elementary School. The STRIVE Program is a specialized program with a low student to teacher ratio for students with intellectual and other developmental disabilities who require intensive programming and support. The program addresses the unique needs of each student, ensuring that instruction is developmentally appropriate. Students are provided with ongoing opportunities for inclusion on an individual basis with the support of program staff.
Within this developmental model, the instructional strategies of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) are utilized throughout the school day. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Provide positive behavior supports and academic interventions for studentEnsure safety of student during in and out of the classroomWork with lead teacher to provide academic, social, and emotional support and interventionWork collaboratively with team of special education teachers and therapists to carry over skillsProvide support with Activities of Daily Living, i.e. toileting, standing, self-care, etcCollect data Qualifications: Associate degree or higher or ParaPro Certification preferredKnowledge and training in ABA Experience working with students with developmental disabilitiesAble to take initiative and work independently
