What are the responsibilities and job description for the EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL - STRIVE PROGRAM position at Helen Keller Elementary School?
The Franklin Public Schools, a Prek-12 district, is seeking a skilled and experienced special education assistant to work in the STRIVE Program at Keller Elementary School. The STRIVE Program is a specialized program with a low student to teacher ratio for students with intellectual and other developmental disabilities who require intensive programming and support. The program addresses the unique needs of each student, ensuring that instruction is developmentally appropriate. Students are provided with ongoing opportunities for inclusion on an individual basis with the support of program staff. Within this developmental model, the instructional strategies of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) are utilized throughout the school day.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide positive behavior supports and academic interventions for student
Ensure safety of student during in and out of the classroom
Work with lead teacher to provide academic, social, and emotional support and intervention
Work collaboratively with team of special education teachers and therapists to carry over skills
Provide support with Activities of Daily Living, i.e. toileting, standing, self-care, etc
Collect data
Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher or ParaPro Certification preferred
Knowledge and training in ABA
Experience working with students with developmental disabilities
Able to take initiative and work independently
