Assistant Controller Position Summary:
Frazee D&J Limited is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support financial operations for a high-profile hotel renovation project in Bermuda. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction accounting, experience with Acumatica, and a strong understanding of project-based financial reporting. This role will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the project’s overall success.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and monthly closings
- Prepare job cost reports, project financials, and variance analyses
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control procedures
- Maintain accurate project cost data within the Acumatica ERP system
- Coordinate with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure timely billing and payments
- Support the integration and ongoing use of Acumatica or other construction management platforms
- Document and monitor financial SOPs, including procurement and payment processes
- Prepare financial reports for leadership and external stakeholders
- Participate in audits, insurance tracking, and contractor compliance documentation
- Identify and support improvements to reporting tools and processes
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including 2 years in construction or project-based accounting
- Proficiency in Acumatica (preferred)
- Familiarity with Procore or similar construction management software (preferred)
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting principles
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to interpret complex financial reports
- Highly organized with strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Commitment to meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed
- Ability to obtain a work permit in Bermuda and relocate for the duration of the project (approximately 14 months)
