Non-exempt; part-time; up to 25 hours per week; Monday – Friday, varied hours, non-benefitted

This part-time position supports both administrative and marketing within Frederick County Parks and Recreation (FCPR). The position focuses on recruitment, communications, and marketing efforts. This position will help to ensure the administrative, onboarding, and marketing efforts operate smooth within FCPR for part-time and seasonal employees. This position plays a key role in recruitment support.  Supervision is received from the Administrative Support Supervisor.

  • Create, update and maintain digital content, including website updates, newsletters, and promotional materials
  • Provide clerical support, including data entry, correspondence, and hiring documentation
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of part-time and seasonal employees, ensuring compliance with hiring processes with filing, data entry, and communication within Parks & Recreation departments.
  • Coordinate hiring events, job fairs, and outreach initiatives to support seasonal staffing needs
  • Maintain personnel files and assist in administrative tasks related to hiring, training, and certifications
  • Act as a liaison between the marketing and administrative teams to ensure cohesive messaging
  • Represent FCPR at community events and promotional activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • High school graduation or the equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months of administrative support work experience 
  • Intermediate skills in the use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Intermediate skills in use of design tools software (i.e. Canva) 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of marketing, social media, video production, graphic design and design software 
  • Strong clerical, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively access and utilize Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, spreadsheet and other systems and equipment, and to learn new software as it is required
  • Ability to effectively organize work, determine priorities, including the ability to make decisions and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision 
  • Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills including the ability to create engaging content
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other Divisions, and the general public

PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:
  • Additional related education 
  • Work experience in Human Resource support or recruitment
  • Work experience in marketing and/or communications 
  • Experience using website content management system (e.g. CivicPlus)
  • Work experience with parks and recreation operations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly sit and perform repetitive motions; occasionally walk and reach; rarely stoop/kneel/crouch, lift up to 50 pounds, push over 40 pounds, pull over 40 pounds and drive.
  • While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly work indoors; and rarely work outdoors, walk on uneven ground, in a noisy environment, near machinery or around chemicals or fumes.
  • Available for varied evening and weekend work hours to accommodate meetings, special events, etc.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to meetings, etc.
  • Available for varied hours as needed

KIND OF EXAMINATION (may include):

  3. One or more interviews
