- Interact extensively with students while providing routine care for minor and acute illnesses and chronic disorders
- Provide immediate care for accidents and injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening
- Provide appropriate treatment of ill or injured persons
- Performs duties and responsibilities as a Certified Medication Technician including, but not limited to, administering medications as delegated by the Registered School Nurse, observe for medication and treatment side effects and take further action as indicated
- Observing ill students, providing direct patient care for students in accordance with school health protocols and as allowed based on certification, training, and scope of practice
- Encourage parents/guardians to follow through with recommended health care
- Reviews student vaccination records
- Enters student information into COVID-19 SharePoint Reporting System as directed
- Documents student health room visits into eSchool as directed
- Arrange appointments and take messages for the RN-School Health
- Communicate health-related information as appropriate
- May be assigned to provide instructional support to classroom teacher(s) as needed.
- May provide clerical support to front office staff as needed.
- May be assigned to supervise recreational, outdoor, and free-time student activities as well as field trips.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Upon employment, successful completion of training as a Certified Medication Technician (CMT) provided by the Frederick County Health Department.
- CPR Certification
- Knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices.

- $18.00 per hour
- $34.59 per hour for candidates with any Bachelor Degree

The Summer Health Services Support Assistant (SHSSA) has the primary responsibility of providing support in the school health suite. Performance will be evaluated by the Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) Health Specialist or designee.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reporting directly to the School Nurse, and/or School Administrator(s), the Summer Health Services Support Assistant performs, at a minimum, the following duties:
