Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Chemical Dependency Counselor to join our team. This role involves providing support and guidance to clients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques. The counselor will work closely with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized treatment plans that promote recovery and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine their needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide one-on-one counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, coping strategies, and relapse prevention.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions, encouraging peer support and sharing of experiences among clients.
- Utilize crisis management techniques to address urgent situations and ensure patient safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and any changes in condition using ICD-10 coding.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the clinic to coordinate patient care and resources.
- Engage with families to provide education about addiction, treatment options, and support systems.
- Stay updated on best practices in chemical dependency counseling and participate in ongoing professional development.
Experience
- Proven experience in addiction counseling is essential; experience working with children is a plus.
- Familiarity with Christian counseling principles is desirable but not mandatory.
- Background in special education or experience working with diverse populations is an advantage.
- Strong skills in crisis management and patient care are critical for success in this role.
- Ability to work effectively within an inpatient setting while maintaining a compassionate approach towards clients.
