We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Insurance & Billing Specialist to join our administrative team.
Position Overview
The Insurance & Billing Specialist is responsible for overseeing the full cycle of insurance billing, claims management, payment posting, and resolution of billing discrepancies. This role is essential in ensuring timely reimbursement and compliance with payer requirements for behavioral health and primary care services.
Key Responsibilities
· Verify client insurance benefits and obtain pre-authorizations when necessary
· Submit clean claims to insurance carriers (Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payers)
· Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims
· Post insurance and patient payments, reconcile EOBs, and update patient accounts
· Manage account balances and assist clients with billing inquiries and payment plans
· Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to ensure accurate documentation and billing processes
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer guidelines, billing codes (CPT/ICD-10), and compliance requirements
· Generate monthly billing reports and assist with accounts receivable (AR) tracking
Qualifications
· Minimum 2 years of billing experience in behavioral health, medical billing, or related healthcare setting
· Working knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing
· Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding, and modifiers
· Proficiency in EHR/EMR systems (BestNotes experience preferred)
· Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
· Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information appropriately
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience billing for MAT and Primary Care services
· Billing certification (e.g., CPB, CMRS) is a plus
· Experience working in a behavioral health agency setting
