Position Summary

The Director of Finance is responsible for maintaining the general ledger and preparing the monthly financial statements for the Friendly Senior Living continuum. Responsible for supervising the members of the Finance Department.

Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinate and assists with the preparation, consolidation of the operating and capital budgets across the continuum. Establishes budget assumptions in conjunction with the executive leadership team. Assists department managers with budget development in conjunction with the CFO. Presents final draft budgets to Administration, CFO, and CEO.
- Maintains general and fixed asset ledgers.
- Monitors account receivable aging.
- Reviews and approves account reconciliations prepared by the senior accountants
- Reviews and approves account payable prepared by account payable coordinator
- Oversees payroll
- Reviews the monthly financial statements and dash board reports, and presents to Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
- Prepares forecasts on the impact of changes in Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement
- Ensures that all information including statistics are gathered, evaluated and recorded on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and compliance with billing and cost allocation, reporting requirements and monitoring and evaluation standards.
- Coordinates the audit function of the Friendly Senior Living continuum in conjunction with the CFO. Ensures that year-end adjustments and third-party analysis is performed as necessary.
- Maintains an understanding of all third-party payment programs related to long-term care.
- Presents and interprets financial results from operations to the President, Treasurer and Finance & Audit Committee.
- Responsible for monitoring the collection, recording and evaluation of statistics used in the Medicaid and Medicare reports.
- Prepares the annual Medicaid, Medicare Cost Reports, and other reports as required.
- Assists in preparation of the one-year and three-year capital budgets.
- Schedules and leads department meetings
- Performs other duties as required by CFO.
Expectations of the Position:
- Dependable, report to work on-time for every schedule shift (ready to work at beginning - start of shift) and work full schedule shifts unless physically unable or pre-approved Paid Time Off (PTO) which includes personal and vacation.
- Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required by the position and/or approved by management.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a “friendly” service-oriented demeanor and supports Culture of Excellence initiatives by interactions with co-workers and/or Members.

Qualifications of the Position:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
- Experience: 3-5 years supervisory experience required. Experience in health care and knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement desirable.
- Skills: Computer literacy.
