What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graphic Designer II position at Fruit of the Loom, Inc.?

Position Summary

The Graphic Designer II uses color, illustrations, fonts, and layout to visually communicate the product positioning, features, and benefits consistent with Marketing and Brand strategies to appeal to the target audience. This position will create concepts, artwork, and layouts for packaging, merchandising, web sites, landing pages, and other digital content (i.e., banners email assets for retail.com) based on creative briefs and content calendars. The designer will develop and execute superior creative that achieves brand and corporate objectives.

 

The Graphic Designer II manages multiple projects at various stages of development to a successful and timely conclusion. The position will also effectively present ideas visually and verbally to internal stakeholders and is responsible for accurately executing the electronic art files for print/digital artwork for pre-production and post-production.

 

Specific Responsibilities

Digital Development:  With some supervision, develop design solutions based on brand guidelines, market trends, and project objectives outlined in the Creative Brief:

·       Learn current market trends and competitive environment.

·       Stay current with developments in print and digital technologies and techniques.

·       Generate print (i.e., packaging, merchandising) and digital (i.e., banners, animation, emails, and rich content for website) design layouts from initial concepts to final based on creative brief.

·       Interpreting direction and subsequent feedback to create and make changes to print and digital graphics with a high degree of accuracy.

·       Identify photo retouching needs and resize assets to specifications.  Upload assets to digital asset management tool

·       Follow digital style guides based on brand guidelines and deliverables.

Production:  With some supervision, assist in accurate execution of printable artwork and digital content.

·       Assist in proofing digital art files to ensure consistent quality prior to releasing for print/digital production.

·       Initiate routing mechanicals for approval prior to release.

·       Work with vendors to approve proofs (final production files) with supervision.

·       Maintain final art files in an accurate and organized manner.

Sales/Marketing Account Support: Develop and generate support materials (i.e. 2D and 3D mocks, jpegs, ad mocks and presentation boards) for Planogram sets and account meetings.

Project Management:  With some supervision, manage multiple creative projects at various stages of development to a successful and timely conclusion.

Communication and Presentations:

With some supervision:

·       Present graphic solutions to a cross-functional group in a clear and concise manner with supporting rationale.

·       Objectively listen to feedback on creative solutions from a variety of sources, facilitate discussion around the feedback and disseminate into revisions to move project forward.

·       Effectively work with cross-functional team members to ensure projects achieve the specified objectives and timelines.

Photoshoots/ Video Shoots: 

·       With some supervision, assist in photoshoot preparation.

·       Initial model selects for manager approval.

·       Assist Creative Manager/Sr. Creative Manager with art direction.

·       Present image selects to Marketing for final approval.

·       Assist with coordination of re-touching.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Art / Graphic Design; must be able to provide a portfolio of graphic & digital work examples for review.
  • Excellent creative and design abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of color theory, layout principles, typography.
  • Advanced knowledge of current design software; MAC Platform, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Job Experience Required

  • 2-4 years of related work experience or demonstrated advanced graphic design skills, project management, and presentation skills.
