Senior Project Engineer/Field Operations Manager- Full Time

Job Summary:-
This position will manage the company’s operation and maintenance (O&M) services for groundwater and soil gas remediation systems and environmental sampling. The position includes supervising a team of environmental and remediation technicians, coordinating field schedules, providing technical input into field and remediation system operation, and managing an office with an equipment warehouse and vehicle fleet. Work outdoors is required. Position also presents opportunity for managing client projects and participating in company’s business development efforts. This position is predominantly an in-person position in Weiss’s Mountain View, California office and requires travel to project sites mostly within 25 miles of the office.
Essential Functions:-
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Manage field activities such as treatment system maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting; sampling; and data collection.

Visit project sites to monitor work progress and occasionally perform field work including remediation system O&M.

Review and assist with field work planning protocols prepared by technical staff.

Supervise up to five staff/technicians, including maintaining staff satisfaction, coordinating training, scheduling work, and reviewing job performance.

Ensure that field staff have appropriate tools and equipment to perform work efficiently and safely.

Communicate and meet with project stakeholders, including property and business owners, contractors, regulatory agencies, and clients.

Promote a safety-conscious culture with staff and contractors.

Review quality of work performed by field staff.

Orient and train new field staff in field and safety procedures.

Collaborate with project managers on engineering design, field work planning, and system optimization.

Participate in process improvements by assisting with updates to Weiss’s Quality Management and Health and Safety Plans.

Participate in company management and planning regarding the scope of field services, staffing, and capital expenditures.

Assist with office operational needs that may include addressing and ordering materials/equipment for office and warehouse, maintaining field equipment and vehicles, and interacting with landlord and office suppliers/utilities.

- Schedule staff to optimize billability and address client needs.
- Keep scheduling and processes flexible to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain high standards for safety and quality of work of technicians.
- Maintain positive work environment for office and field staff by addressing personnel needs effectively.

Job Specifications:-
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or similar field preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 (five) years of managing field services or performing field work.
- Experience with environmental sampling, groundwater treatment system, and remediation is preferred, but candidates managing engineers, scientists, and/or technicians for similar field engineering services would be considered.
- Experience supervising staff in an office and field setting is preferred.
