A leading civil contractor seeks an experienced Senior Estimator specializing in highways, site development, and underground utilities.
Job Description
This is a detail-oriented position that requires assessing project scope, conducting site visits, obtaining vendor and subcontractor pricing, and developing accurate cost estimates throughout various project phases.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and contract documents, as well as hands-on experience with estimating software such as HCSS Heavy Bid (Estimating) and Heavy Job (Project Management).
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings and documentation to determine scope.
- Prepare comprehensive takeoffs for earthwork, highways, utilities, and site development.
- Coordinate material take-offs, equipment mobilization, and subcontractor budgeting.
- Analyze subcontractor bids and assist with project scheduling.
- Communicate effectively with owners, construction managers, and general contractors to clarify project scope and maintain strong industry relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience estimating heavy highway, site development, earthmoving, and underground utility or water/wastewater projects.
- Hands-on experience with HCSS Heavy Bid (Estimating) and Heavy Job (Project Management) software.
- Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Familiarity with self-perform work and estimating labor, equipment, and materials.
