DESCRIPTION:
The Safety Manager provides guidance and direction for the planning, implementation and on-going evaluation of safety policies and procedures to provide a safe working environment for employees. Serves as a local safety advocate engaging local employees in the Safety Program to work towards achieving continuous improvement and expense reduction. The qualified candidate
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Bachelor's Degree is required or equivalent job experience; occupational safety/industrial, health education or degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
- CSP or CHST Certification strongly preferred
- Five (5) years of work experience in a safety leadership role, including several years of work in an aviation or airport environment preferred
- Proven record of continuous improvement with accomplishments to support success
- Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce federal, state, local and company regulations
- Expert knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ISAGO, SMS and DOT standards
- Strong leadership and proactive problem solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organizational and prioritization abilities
- Ability to analyze various types of data and produce reports for senior management
- Proven success in developing, training and implementing safety procedures and best practices
- Demonstrated presentation, training and facilitation skills
- Must have a reliable mode of communication and transportation
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Airport experience
- Management or supervisory experience
- Minimum of 1 year of Safety and Compliance experience
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Ability to treat all information as confidential.
- Possess the tact to deal with all levels of situations, client representatives, employees and the public Implement safety plan for station
- Ensure implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS)
- Implement safety plan for station
- Maintain Quality Assurance oversight for operational issues relating to performance and safety, providing suitable corrective and/or preventative actions where necessary
- Actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS)
- Strong diplomacy and relationship building skills. Able to influence others positively.
- Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English.
- Must be able to sit, stand, lift and/or bend throughout the shift.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and/or hold up to 50 lbs.
- Limited travel may be required.
- Must meet necessary requirements to obtain a security sensitive identification badge.
- Must be a citizen of the United States or possess the necessary authorization from the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).
- Perform other duties as requested.
