Job Responsibilities: A construction estimator is responsible for analyzing construction project plans, calculating the total cost of a project by determining required materials and labor, sourcing cost estimates from suppliers and subcontractors, and compiling a comprehensive budget proposal for clients, essentially acting as the financial planner for a construction project by predicting project costs with accuracy. Below is a list, but not limited to responsibilities:
Pay: $55,000 - $65,000 per year

- Prepares and estimates budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications.
- Evaluate offers to purchase by site requirements, additions, and cost changes.
- Resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting info.
- Writes up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans.
- Develops bids for construction projects.
- Works closely with architects and other professionals.
- Schedules meetings with clients, site managers, and staff.
- Navigate and understand building codes.
- Processes paperwork and travels to building sites as required.
- Monitors construction processes.
- Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction.
- Strong math skills, including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic
- Ability to navigate specifications and plans
- Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at once
- Knowledge of the latest building codes
- Close attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business or economics or other related field is preferred
- High School Diploma and at least 3 years of related experience is required
