SUMMARY:
The Complex Director of Sales and Catering is responsible for leading the sales and catering team, across multiple properties, including setting and achieving the budget for room and catering sales. The position is responsible for setting the revenue-generating strategies for soliciting, booking, managing, and overseeing sales and conference service teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead sales team, set and achieve annual sales plan/budget, and participate on the executive committee.
- Establish goals and guidelines for sales staff to ensure financial monthly obligations (as proposed in the budget) are met.
- Partner with operations/marketing to set annual sales and marketing plans, budgets, expenses, forecasts, strategies, and tactics to support revenue growth for rooms, food & beverage (restaurants, catering, etc.), and the Spa.
- Complete monthly reports, and forecasts as necessary.
- Hold weekly sales team meetings.
- Overall responsibility for total group revenue strategies, implementation, and results; including group rooms, group food and beverage, meeting room rental, and other group revenues as assigned by the hotel and food and beverage.
- Communicate needs, expectations, and sales activities to hotel managers and staff.
- Regularly evaluate the team and document all reviews.
- Sustain rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits, exploring specific needs, anticipating new opportunities, and hosting site and family trips.
- Attend trade shows as necessary.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups. In coordination with the General Manager, serve as the market representative for media-related inquiries and refer sensitive matters to the marketing leader department as necessary.
- Represent the hotel in resolving complaints from groups and group attendees, including but not limited to billing and reservations.
- Additional duties as necessary and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Director of Sales in a 4-star and above hotel with 350 rooms with meeting facilities.
- A minimum of 5 years of hotel sales experience.
- Strong reporting and financial analytics skills.
- Experience in Group, transient, contract, and FIT segments.
- Experience as a catering and/or event sales manager preferred.
- Pre-opening experience preferred.
- Condo/Hotel sales experience preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Experience using Delphi or IVVY software preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Sales, Communications, Marketing, Business or Hotel Management or equivalent experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish (preferred).
REASONING ABILITY:
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
