  • Parent Communication & Support:

  • Follow up with parents throughout the camp week only as indicated.
  • Mental Health Crisis Support:
  • Address significant mental health crises or situations that require immediate attention during the camp week.
  • Participate with the Camp Directors and Camp Medical Provider(s) in assessment and decision-making regarding GCC’s capacity to support the camper at camp, or whether the camper should be sent home.
  • Provide guidance and a list of resources for parents when a camper is sent home.
  • Ongoing Collaboration with Camp Leadership:
  • Collaborate with the Camp Director and Medical Services Director to review upcoming schedules, identify potential challenges, and plan for preemptive actions or interventions.
  • Participate in Sunday morning briefing sessions with staff to prepare them form specific campers and overall camper population needs.

Schedule:

  • The MHP is expected to work primarily Sunday to Tuesday night or Wednesday morning and may not need to be present on Thursday and Friday.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a school psychologist, school counselor or similar role, preferably in a camp, school, or therapeutic setting.
  • Strong skills in assessing and managing mental health crises with children and adolescents.
  • Experience in training or educating staff in mental health protocols.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with camp leadership, medical providers and parents.
  • Comfort in making quick, on-the-fly assessments of mental health needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in writing and in person.
