Your New Role
As an Assistant Controller in Phoenix, AZ, you’ll be the right-hand support to the Controller, ensuring smooth financial operations. This isn’t your typical accounting job—you’ll be hands-on in construction finance, making sure every dollar is tracked, optimized, and working toward project success.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Assistance Controller , you will be responsible for the following:
- Payroll & Tax Submissions: Process weekly payroll, handle multi-state tax filings, and ensure compliance.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process job-related invoices, collections, and vendor payments.
- Project Draws & Financial Coordination: Collaborate with Project Managers on payment draws and ensure Textura compliance.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in month-end and year-end closing, reconciliations, and report preparation.
- Check Runs & Compliance: Manage check processing and ensure all payments meet proper documentation standards.
- Software & System Management: Utilize Sage 300, Textura, and Procore to integrate financial and project management systems.
- Client & Vendor Relations: Serve as a financial liaison between internal teams and external partners.

Job requirements
- 3 years of accounting experience in construction (required)
- Expertise in Sage 300 and Textura (must-have)
- Experience with Procore (preferred)
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction job costing
- High proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
- Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
