Job Overview
Garland Lodge & Golf Resort is searching for an Assistant Grounds Superintendent to supervise the maintenance of all turf areas, snow plowing and removal, and personnel implementation. If qualified, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Superintendent in the management and maintenance of landscapes, gardens, and grounds. This position involves overseeing various landscaping projects, ensuring high-quality care for trees and lawns, and leading a team of grounds keeping staff. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in landscape maintenance and demonstrate effective leadership skills to foster a productive work environment in following and implementing the guidelines, policies and standards established by Garland.
Responsibilities

- Achieve the highest standards and quality in golf and grounds maintenance.
- Assist in the development of all turf management programs and monitoring of.
- Assist in the development and execution of golf course budget and monitoring of.
- Directly supervise the routine maintenance functions including scheduling, work assignments and equipment distribution.
- Directly supervise all improvement work and projects on assigned golf course.
- Directly supervise irrigation system operation and oversee maintenance.
- Directly supervise, and on occasion, perform fertilization, spraying and cultural activities on all turf areas.
- Train all crew members as required for proper work performance and safety.
- Assume responsibility for hiring, disciplining, and termination of crew.
- Maintain weather, work, spray, fertilization, cultural, and other data as required in designated logbooks and forms.
- Communicate with and assist in supervision of shop mechanics for all repairs and service.
- Maintain communications with other supervisors as needed.
- Coordinate and supervise snow removal and winter project work.
- Be on-call at all hours for emergencies.

- Ability to inspect golf course conditioning and clubhouse grounds.
- Lead and work as a team member, maintain and enforce company and departmental rules and policies.
- Control, direct and support personnel.
- Continually upgrade and expand job knowledge and education.
Physical Requirements to Perform the Duties of the Job:
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, which may require exerting up to 100lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50lbs. frequently, and up to 20lbs. constantly.
- Ability to perform such activities as stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping for up to five (5) hours without sitting.
- Good health, strength, and endurance to perform duties.
Licensing, Education and/or Other Special Certification(s) Required:
- Proper experience is needed to cover the areas of responsibility.
- You must obtain a Pesticide Applicator License.
- Valid Driver’s License
