- Prepare and review journal entries, financial statements, and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Perform general ledger reconciliation, including intercompany, bank, and balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze financial results, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support audits by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation to external auditors.
- Manage and track research and development (R&D) tax credits, grant funding, and other life sciences-related financial activities.
- Ensure proper internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments such as operations, R&D, and procurement to ensure financial data is accurately captured and reported.
- Maintain knowledge of industry-specific accounting standards and regulations, keeping the finance team updated on any changes.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing financial insights and support to department leaders.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accountants or other finance team members as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role or public accounting firm.
- Experience in the life sciences, healthcare, or biotechnology industries is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Experience with financial statement preparation and audit support.
- Proficiency in accounting software (preference for NetSuite).
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze large sets of data and produce reports.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
