The Team The Global Development Division includes a diverse range of program areas sought at finding creative ways to ensure solutions, services and products reach people and communities in low-income countries -- and ensure they have the agency to demonstrate them. We focus on areas with the potential for high-impact, balanced solutions that can reach millions of people. The GD Office of the President provides support to the President of GD and the full GD Division through leading key internal and external processes and cross-cutting priority initiatives. This team supports all engagement on behalf of the GD President, as well as cross-cutting support functions such as strategy development, managing division-wide employee experience, and annual planning and strategy review preparation. Special priority initiatives include DEI and Gender Integration efforts, onboarding, regional office strengthening etc. This team is also responsible for effectively representing all GD strategies in foundation-wide engagements and externally in service of achieving foundation goals; particularly those that cut across teams and functions. Your Role The SPO, Special Initiative for Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of the new GEDI OoP initiative strategy over the LTE 18-month period. This will include support to the GEDI functional lead , GD leadership team, and GEDI Working Group! What You’ll Do Lead implementation of 2 GEDI pillar strategies (GEDI pillars include Culture, Talent, Leadership Accountability, Gender Integration and Partnerships/Voice) and make progress against GD GEDI goals and results. Own the development and implementation of at least 2 cross-cutting projects (i.e. DEI learning and development; GEDI listening approach; GEDI onboarding effort). Prioritize GEDI Working Group meetings and project meetings including preparing agendas, updates, and content. Responsible for delivering on project outcomes, soliciting feedback, engaging with GEDI partner groups and GD OoP Director. Partner deeply with India Country Office and Africa Team colleagues, Foundation’s DEI Center of Excellence, and GD Division DEI, GI leads and GEDI Pillar lead Support the budget, strategy and implementation of BMGF’s health and development outcomes through support on gender, equity, diversity and inclusion (GEDI) issues in partnership with program strategy team and regional office colleagues. Develop, manage, resource, and implement GEDI program initiatives that align with foundation strategy and is operationally coordinated with other foundation programs. Preferred ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally, but not required. Your Experience Minimum 8-10 years of solid experience in global health or development, private sector, government, philanthropy and/or non-profits. Preferred previous experience with DEI and Gender Integration strategies, approaches, and organizational change processes at the team or Division level for an organization funding or providing services in multiple geographies. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the solid track record to lead and influence others in an inclusive and constructive manner and to build and sustain collaborative relationships. Proven success working with, and as a part of, cross-cultural teams, demonstrating culturally sensitive behavior with a diverse range of people. Optimally communicate and synthesize information to reach diverse audiences and build consensus. Preferred significant experience in grant making and management.
