Required Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent office experience, Bachelors in HR or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of federal and state employee labor and leave laws (FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, Unemployment Compensation, etc.). preferred
  • Must be able to utilize a variety of office equipment, including technology to manage information systems to carry out essential human resources office operations.(Google Applications, Mail Merge; Styles; Table of Contents: Labels; Advanced Formatting)
  • Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills
  • Exhibit initiative, ability to work independently, and offer constructive suggestions for improving office efficiency
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Confidentiality is essential to this position.
  • Clearances - Current Child Abuse, FBI, and Criminal Record required
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Purpose: The Human Resource Assistant works collaboratively assisting the human resource director in all job duties and responsibilities in the HR office. She/he assists with the day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties while providing clerical and administrative support in the office. She/he assists in planning, leading, directing, and coordinating the policies, activities, and operations in the office to ensure legal compliance with federal, state, and Pennsylvania School Code laws and regulations.

Job Duties:

  • Act as point of contact for district employees regarding leaves and retirements; track and monitor leaves for employees including associated paperwork.
  • Assist the director with event planning for staff-related information sessions, training, workshops, and retirement meetings.
  • Assists with postings and monitoring the candidate selection process. Includes maintaining a database of interviews, posting job vacancies, web based application system, coordinating interview schedules, updating interview paperwork, reference checking, employment offers, verification of salary/hourly rate and sending rejection emails.
  • Responsible for employee onboarding and associated processes aligned with District policies and other applicable departments.
  • Ensure that personnel recommendations for the Board Discussion and Action meetings are completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate databases to track contractual and personnel matters, such as: seniority, induction, differentiated supervision, sick leave bank, staff counts and rosters.
  • Secure temporary staff with local agencies for vacancies and ensure required paperwork is collected and up-to-date.
  • Collect and maintain clearances from staff, substitutes, subcontractors, and volunteers.
  • Maintains and administers the Workers Compensation plan.
  • Maintains tracking compliance with PA teacher certification regulations
  • Coordinates with Business Services Department on all Employee Contract/Employment Status (Hire/Leaves/Retiree’s/Vacancies)
  • Enter and maintain employee information in the designated information systems.
  • Assist in tracking compliance with PA teacher certification regulations, TIMS, expiration dates of all certificates and licenses. With oversight from the Director of Human Resources, track progress of all certification and designation requirements as they relate to ESSA.
  • Responsible for maintaining district personnel and employee medical records.
  • Coordinate submission of PIMS, HQT, Civil Rights Report, SupPer, EEOC and other reports as necessary.
  • Maintain and update job descriptions and interview questions.
  • Responsible for initial intake and tracking of tuition repayment for all employee groups.
  • Assists the Director of Human Resources with the coordination and tracking of student teaching placements.
  • Ensure the HR website is up-to-date.
  • Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Director of Human Resources or designee.

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, must score 85% or above on testing
  • Type at least 60 words per minute with accuracy preferred, testing required
  • Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
