We are seeking a Project Accountant to work closely with the Accounting staff to assist with day-to-day activities. This position will be based out of our San Francisco office.
The Project Accountant is a key member of the Accounting team. This role is instrumental in managing job cost projections, change management, billings and coordinating with AP for monthly billings to Owner. The Project Accountant’s primary responsibility is to support the project team regarding client invoicing, payments, reports, and any other duties related to the project.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred or equivalent experience
- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Critical thinker with excellent attention to detail
- Key competencies are communication, teamwork, initiative, and dependability
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Manage numerous projects at once and be able to multi-task effectively
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferences
- Advanced MS Excel Knowledge and Vista by Viewpoint experience
- Prior construction experience with working knowledge of lien laws
- At least 2 years of experience in accounting
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure the project is set up and maintained in Vista and is in alignment with other softwares
- Reviewing vendor invoices accurately using commitments and within assigned timeline.
- Collect and track compliance documents.
- Participate in Client Kick-off meeting to ensure successful billing submission and alignment.
- Compiles, prepares, and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
- Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
- Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.
- Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project-related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.
