POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Manager will oversee the development and execution of utility-scale energy storage projects across the U.S. This role involves managing project schedules, budgets, and risks while coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and external agencies. The Project Manager will support permitting efforts, oversee procurement activities, and ensure timely delivery of key project milestones.
LOCATION
This position is preferably based in Charlotte, NC, or Houston, TX area but those seeking a fully remote role will also be considered.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, identify potential risks and propose solutions to ensure smooth project execution and prevent delays or cost overruns.
- Coordinate with permitting, real estate, engineering, and interconnection teams to ensure timely submission of required documents, reports, and studies for advancing the projects.
- Oversee procurement and vendor management, including issuing RFPs, securing EPC bids, managing task orders and contracts, and evaluating vendor performance to ensure timely execution and adherence to specifications.
- Monitor and track budgets, contracts, change orders, and payment milestones, ensuring financial discipline and timely delivery of project deliverables.
- Maintain project records and compliance documentation, ensuring all activities are properly documented and accessible.
- Facilitate clear communication with internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients regarding project updates, issues, and deliverables.
- Support project sales and transactions, managing due diligence efforts, responding to buyer inquiries, and collaborating with all stakeholders to provide comprehensive assessments.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support corporate initiatives, process improvements, and business development efforts.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Qualifications:
- BA/BS Degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
- 5 years of experience in project management within energy storage, renewables, or large-scale infrastructure development.
- Proven experience issuing RFPs, securing EPC bids, and managing vendor contracts.
- Strong understanding of permitting, real estate development, interconnection, and procurement.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Highly organized with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and vendors simultaneously.
- Experience with contract negotiations, budget management, and procurement strategy.
- Proficiency in project management tools, GIS platforms (Google Earth, ESRI ArcGIS), and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of energy markets, utility interconnection, and construction processes is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability and willingness to travel (up to 25%)
