What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Designer position at General Dynamics Electric Boat?
Overview
There is presently a need for highly-motivated Designers with the ability to produce design deliverables from design sketches, layouts and/or concepts to support manufacture, assembly and test. We are looking for candidates with the desire to develop skills through on-the-job experience and continued education to advance in the design profession.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma/GED or Vocational High School diploma
- 6 years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in drafting (portfolio) with Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Preferred:
- 2 year Technical School/College
- Knowledge of Microsoft products, familiarity with design practices/rules and CAD tools, ability to perform design related math functions, ability to read and interpret written instructions and drawings (blueprints), and the desire to develop skills through on-the-job experience and continued education to advance in the design profession.
- Familiarity with Electrical Design Systems, Cableways and Components a plus.
- Familiarity with Design Standards, Military Specifications, Manufacturing Processes, Design for Six Sigma, Lean Design/Manufacturing is a plus.
- Experience with Autocad/CATIA/NX
