Overview
Turbine Generator (TG) Set Senior Engineer
Department 489 – COLUMBIA Class Turbine Generator (TG) Sets - Responsible for the design, manufacture, test, and delivery of the TG sets for the state-of-the-art electric drive propulsion system on COLUMBIA Class submarine. A challenging opportunity exists within the engineered components group for the following responsibilities:
Basic requirements include, but not limited to:
- Review of Supplier technical submittals
- Provide oversight of testing at vendor facilities and the compatibility test facility (CTF) in Philadelphia, PA
- Participate in technical discussions with vendor(s), Prime contractor and NAVY customers
- Review internal documentation to assure that requirements have been met
- Preparation of technical correspondence to NAVY customers
- Ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills to allow close communication of technical issues with NAVY customers and Electric Boat management. Frequent travel may be required to participate in the supplier’s factory acceptance and CTF testing.
Qualifications
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 4 years of related engineering experience
Skills
- Candidate must be highly motivated, perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations, including interfacing regularly with the Navy customer, in an engineering environment
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are a must
