What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Supervisor I position at General Dynamics Electric Boat?
Overview
Chosen candidate will be integrally involved in the daily transportation needs of the Groton shipyard, including but not limited to: forklifts, trucks, tractor trailers and transporters, which may include moves made off-site. They must have detailed knowledge of transportation responsibilities and be capable of directing multi-trade personnel as well as be able to interact with all levels of management. Individual will be in charge of transportation material flow throughout the shipyard, the fleet services garage including heavy equipment repair and fueling, in addition to overseeing scrap yard operations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years transportation experience
- Knowledge of CT and Federal DOT regulations
- Must possess strong PC skills
Preferred:
- Prior leadership experience
- Knowledge of Fleet repair operations
- Knowledge of Transporter Operations (Scheuerle)
- Knowledge of Shipping and Receiving operations
- Knowledge of Oracle, Corrigo, PEWO’s and VReq’s
Skills
- Individual must be well-organized and self-motivated with strong leadership qualities
- Must have ability to multi-task and interface with all levels of management
- Candidate must be a good communicator and be capable of directing multi-trade personnel
