- Works independently and as a team to care for district lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
- Maintains irrigation systems, including winterizing the systems and starting them up in spring.
- Works independently or as a team to install/improve district landscaping, including building, planting and mulching of flower beds.
- Applies fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Maintains all proper documentation in accordance with state and district standards when applying any chemical in or on district grounds.
- Maintains playground standards by hauling and spreading surfacing material.
- Drives district vehicles to and from district buildings/programs.
- Utilizes district power tools, machinery, and vehicles to remove snow and apply various salt product to parking lots, sidewalks, ramps, stairs and entrance ways.
- Maintains district vehicles and machinery in accordance with manufactures and district specifications.
- Maintains accurate preventative maintenance logs of equipment, salt, fertilizer or district vehicle usage.
- Demonstrates flexibility to work in accordance with district scheduling needs including before and after-hours, weekends, and or holidays.

Job Summary: The Grounds Crew Member works with program Director and Assistant Director to ensure district lawns, landscaping, parking lots, sidewalks and related exterior areas are maintained in accordance with district standards. The Grounds Crew Member will also be responsible for assisting with snow removal and various methods of salt application to district building entrances, parking lots, sidewalks, and ramps.Genesee Intermediate

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Valid Michigan Driver’s License required.
Experience:
Documented work experience in commercial mowing, landscaping, fertilization and snow removal preferred.
Skills/Other:
Demonstrated competence in lawn maintenance and snow removal. Demonstrate physical stamina necessary for lifting and moving heavy equipment and materials, repetitive stooping, squatting, bending, carrying, climbing, pushing, pulling, walking, kneeling and reaching while maintaining personal balance and stability to perform the essential duties. Ability to accept/provide oral and written direction. Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, electronic and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with team members regarding work assignments. Demonstrated dependability, trustworthiness, and the ability to work with limited supervision. Ability to properly and safely use district vehicles and equipment. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to work a flexible workday, work week, and work year. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times.
