Genuine Solutions Counseling Center (GSCC) is seeking Masters in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Student Interns who are interested in gaining clinical experience in a private practice setting to join our team! Our student internships can be completed either REMOTE or in-person at our Waterford office.

REQUIREMENTS: (PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS!)
You MUST be a Michigan resident attending either a Michigan University or an out-of-state online program
You MUST be a 2nd year or an Advanced Standing Masters in Social Work, Masters in Counseling, or Masters in Marriage & Family student
You MUST have and maintain current Student Liability Insurance for the duration of your practicum/internship period
You MUST be able to pass a background check and drug screen
PREFERENCE given to candidates with experience providing clinical or case management services in a Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage & Family therapy role (outpatient, In-home therapy, residential work, etc.) conducting intake assessments, formulating diagnoses, developing and monitoring treatment plans, documenting progress notes, etc., but will train as needed!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
During the internship period, the Student Intern, under the supervision and direction of a LMSW, LPC, or LMFT Site Supervisor, agrees to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
Participate in scheduled new-hire Orientation with Company Director to be trained on Company processes, protocols, and EMR system (inSync).
Maintain a caseload ensuring Intern will meet required direct contact hours with patients over the course of the internship.
Leverage inSync EMR system to maintain timely and appropriate clinical documentation.
Conduct intake interviews and assessments, diagnosis, create treatment plans, and maintain accurate documentation of clinical work. This may include progress notes, treatment plans, and other client-related information, and other documents in accordance with legal and ethical standards
Provide direct clinical services to clients through case management and counseling.
Coordinate with external resources and providers as needed to service clients.
Engage in ongoing weekly 1:1 supervision meetings, to address any clinical practice or ethical issues that may arise in their work with patients on their caseload.
Submit logged/completed internship hours to Supervisor for signature on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis as required by the university.
During initial and ongoing weekly 1:1 supervision meetings, the Intern will be prepared to discuss all clinical documentation for patients on their caseload, as well as having any questions related to their direct clinical practice prepared as well.
During initial and ongoing weekly 1:1 supervision meetings, the Intern will be responsible for making timely corrections to any clinical documentation for any patients on their caseload if the Supervisor provides feedback that corrections are needed prior to closing the encounter after making the corrections.
If the Intern is ill and/or has a family emergency that will cause them to be absent, the Intern is responsible for notifying GSCC’s office by phone and Supervisor by phone or text so that any scheduled patients for that day can be rescheduled.
Attend all required staff/operations meetings, peer consultation, individual consultations, and trainings.
Collaborate with the administration/leadership team to develop clinical profiles, communicate scheduling needs, and maintain an active caseload.
Work closely with Supervisor and Internship coordinator to hone clinical skills and focus on development as a clinician.
Intern agrees to follow GSCC’s policies as outlined in the Associate Handbook.
Intern agrees to follow Codes of Ethics, local, state, and federal regulations guiding behavioral healthcare services.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of DSM Diagnosis/Criteria
- Experience with remote clinical work
- Experience with EMR documentation
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
- Ability to accept feedback, including constructive criticism, from your Supervisor with a positive attitude and understanding that any feedback related to areas of clinical growth/improvement are essential to growing as a skilled clinician
- Eagerness to collaborate with other team members to work towards shared goals/objectives
- Dependable/Consistent Attendance
PAY:
GSCC'S Clinical Student Internship is an UNPAID position within the practice. However, GSCC is committed to and has been employing student interns once they graduate as full-time clinicians!
SCHEDULE:
TBD by total number of internship hours required by student's academic program (usually 10-18 hours per week)
Salary : $100 - $101
