What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Fleet Supervisor position at Georges Inc?
SUMMARY: The Van Fleet Supervisor is responsible for scheduling, assigning and supervising the Van Drivers and vehicles to ensure safe, efficient and economical transportation services of George’s team members to and from the work site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop routes, assignments and schedules for daily transportation of George’s team members; notify drivers of any changes in van service, such as address changes, pick up/drop off time changes, etc.
- Ensure daily pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles according to DOT regulations and reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations and damage.
- Review and audit the Van Driver vehicle logs for satisfactory completion
- Serve as a backup driver when driver shortages arise
- Design and implement safe, sustainable action plans to overcome unforeseen circumstances (traffic pattern interruptions/changes, vehicle accidents and breakdowns, etc.
- Support the recruiting, selection and training of drivers to maintain necessary routes
- Schedule driver PTO to ensure coverage of all routes
- Maintain ongoing communications with mechanical maintenance, HR supervisors, passengers and drivers
- Establish and ensure accountability of professional and safety requirements for vehicle condition and driving methods
- Research citations and issue corrective actions as needed
- Monthly reporting/tracking of EZ pass utilization, van pool reporting, driver bonus payouts
- Route optimization as needed
- Provide weekly routine utilization, maintenance and efficiency reporting
- Coordinate maintenance and service with internal and external shops
- Create PM schedules for all equipment and ensure compliance
- Van key control
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years of transportation, route scheduling and/or dispatch experience
- Current State Issued Driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Very strong computer skills with basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Preferred
- 1 year prior supervisory experience
