As a Medical Records/Referral Coordinator, Responsibilities Include
- Distributing medical files to appropriate departments and/or agencies according to laws and regulations
- Works closely with administration and staff to support the requests from patients and outside entities with obtaining records
- Assist patients, staff and affiliates with medical records requests
- Assisting with departmental audits
- Maintaining quality and accurate records by following company procedures
- Ensuring patient charts, paperwork, and reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner
- Ensuring that all medical records are protected and kept confidential
- Completing clerical duties, including answering phones, and responding to emails
- Responsible for all incoming authorizations, whether received on paper, by phone or electronic submission
- Makes calls to patients or external agencies as needed and coordinates with professional staff for follow up and tracking of referral completion
Medical Records/Referrals Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- A minimum of 1 year experience in medical records
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
