Job Description:
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Criminal Justice Adjunct Instructor (Pool) position, in the Criminal Justice division. This position is located on Atlanta Tech's main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Under general supervision, the Criminal Justice Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for instructing and supervising students in the Criminal Justice course.
Duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
- Provides professional instruction based on an approved course syllabus;
- Ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives;
- Develops course outlines, goals and objectives;
- Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives;
- Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for Criminal Justice courses;
- Administers and grades class examinations, and maintains records of student attendance and grades;
- Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students, as needed;
- Assist with development and review of program, syllabi, goals and objectives according to approved curriculum and course syllabi standards;
- Display excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Assist with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts;
- Demonstrate knowledge of current practices in teaching field and/or related fields;
- Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed;
- Maintains program certification requirements;
- Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts;
- Follow and enforce rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field with at least eighteen (18) graduate hours in Criminal Justice from a regionally accredited institution. At least three (3) of the last seven (7) years must have been employed in the Criminal Justice field. Work experience must include competencies, skills and knowledge levels included in the Criminal Justice field. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively teach, counsel or work with persons of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, preference may be given to candidates that possess and demonstrate a Master’s degree in the Criminal justice or related field and three (3) or more years teaching/training experience. Must also possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and leadership skills.
May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community.
