Job Description

GTRI’s Force Protection Systems Branch (FPSB) in the Aerospace and Acoustics Technologies Division (AATD) within the Aerospace, Transportation, and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ATAS) seeks students, Summer 2025, with interests in systems engineering, test and evaluation, and rapid fielding. Students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the following areas:

  • Test and Evaluation of unmanned systems and related technologies
  • Integration and assessment of complex system-of-systems in support of military kill chains
  • Planning, execution and data analysis in support DoD experimentation
  • Assessing operational performance of DoD systems
  • Analyzing sensor performance involving both active and passive sensing modalities

Students will primarily work at GTRI’s Cobb County Research Facility in Smyrna, GA.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Intern

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Full-Time Intern- Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3.5 or higher GPA
  • Prior military experience or work experience in DoD projects and applications
  • Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret)
  • Understanding of operational concepts involving complex system architectures
  • Experience working in teams to accomplish tasks and meet mutual objectives
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical ideas and concepts using verbal and written communication skills

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
