Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to design and implement educational programs tailored for Early Childhood students.
- Promote student engagement through the Responsive Classroom model, guiding social interactions and fostering a nurturing environment.
- Organize and maintain an enriching classroom atmosphere where children can learn, positively interact, and engage with peers.
- Oversee instructional activities and assessments, reflecting on the effectiveness of lesson plans and assignments.
- Assist in classroom management and supervise students during educational activities.
- Remain updated with mandatory child care training, completing at least 15 hours annually.
- Support diaper changing and assist with the potty training process as necessary.
- Exhibit professionalism, accountability, and ethical behavior at all times.
- Be present one week prior to the start of the school year for preparatory meetings and one week post-graduation to fulfill year-end responsibilities.
- Participate in essential faculty meetings and school events, including Parents' Night, Open House, Chapel services, and Parent/Teacher Conferences.
- Serve as Acting Lead Teacher during short-term absences of the Lead Teacher (3 days or less).
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Utilize platforms like Seesaw to share classroom activities with parents.
- Assist in supervising outdoor play, nature walks, Related Arts classes, lunch, and other student activities.
- Contribute to student programs, committees, assemblies, and field trips as needed.
- Engage in professional development programs to continually enhance teaching practices.
- Complete all necessary HR training, such as CPR, first aid, and mandatory reporting.
- Uphold the school’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and multicultural education.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Early Childhood/Lower School Division Head, including carpool duty and early care responsibilities.
- Passion for working with young children and understanding their developmental requirements.
- Ability to lead classroom activities effectively for whole groups, small groups, and individuals.
- Display empathy, adaptability, and strong collaboration abilities.
- Proficient with technology, including iPad applications, Google Suite, email, photo editing, iMovie, etc.
- Strong organizational and communication capabilities.
- Demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to ongoing learning.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- At least three years of experience working with young children is preferred.
