Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to design and implement engaging educational programs tailored to meet the developmental needs of Early Childhood students.
- Facilitate a Responsive Classroom approach during morning meetings, encouraging positive social interactions and guiding students in establishing healthy relationships with peers and educators.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of a supportive, safe, and caring classroom environment conducive to learning and play.
- Supervise students, support lesson delivery, and monitor student progress through authentic assessments, engaging in ongoing self-reflection to improve instructional practices.
- Stay abreast of required training, including 15 hours of annual DSS child care training, and actively participate in the professional development opportunities provided by the school.
- Maintain transparent communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators, utilizing platforms such as Seesaw to keep families informed on classroom updates.
- Step in as Lead Teacher during short-term absences (three days or fewer) and take part in school events and traditions, including Parent Nights and Conferences.
- Participate in faculty meetings, teacher workdays, committees, field trips, and other essential school functions and responsibilities.
- Support the school's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and multicultural education, creating an inclusive environment for all students.
- Ensure student safety and well-being by supervising outdoor play, Related Arts classes, nature walks, and lunch.
- Incorporate technology into the classroom and utilize online platforms for remote learning when necessary.
- Maintain necessary records, including attendance and medical slips, ensuring timely submission of all required documentation.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in leading and nurturing group learning in a supportive manner.
- High energy, empathy, and adaptability.
- Basic technological proficiency with tools like iPads, Google Suite, email, photo editing, iMovie, etc.
- A Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience working with young children is preferred, though not mandatory.
