Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the lead teacher to foster a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.
- Serve as a co-teacher and instructional support within the classroom, aiding in lesson delivery.
- Reinforce educational concepts by providing individualized or small group instruction to students.
- Uphold scholarly conduct among students by implementing established school and classroom guidelines.
- Assist the lead teacher with administrative tasks and record-keeping responsibilities.
- Lead small group instruction utilizing evidence-based interventions tailored to individual student needs.
- Document and maintain records of interventions and student progress to ensure effective outcomes.
- Work in partnership with special educators to provide appropriate accommodations for students.
- Maintain open communication with families, including participation in team and parent meetings.
- Contribute to the development of individual student success plans.
- Support universal screening processes and monitor student engagement in interventions.
- Supervise student groups as necessary, ensuring seamless transitions between activities.
- Aid the teacher in lesson preparation and classroom organization.
- Assist with supervision during lunch, recess, and various administrative tasks.
- Substitute for the classroom teacher during professional development or meetings as required.
- Reflect on feedback and continually enhance skills to better support students.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of college education.
- Experience in working with children in educational settings.
- A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, ESL, or Special Education.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole.
