Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a Safe and Healthy Learning Environment
- Provide constant supervision of children in both classroom and playground settings to maintain security.
- Immediately report accidents, thefts, and any unusual incidents to the Program Director or Site Manager.
- Comply with all safety standards and regulations, particularly during pick-up and drop-off procedures.
- Enhance Physical and Intellectual Competence
- Cultivate positive relationships with children to facilitate their learning and development.
- Collaborate with the teaching team to design and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities.
- Offer support for remote learning initiatives and provide staff coverage as required.
- Support Social and Emotional Development
- Use age-appropriate guidance methods and model positive behaviors for children.
- Apply Positive Descriptive Acknowledgment (PDA) to reinforce appropriate actions and document children's progress.
- Work alongside teachers to define and communicate suitable developmental expectations.
- Build Positive Relationships with Families
- Establish trust with parents and guardians while valuing their cultural backgrounds.
- Assist in parent-teacher conferences and promote parental engagement in the program.
- Ensure a Well-Executed and Purposeful Program
- Maintain classroom supplies and resources to support a conducive learning atmosphere.
- Effectively implement lesson plans and complete essential documentation, including DRDP paperwork.
- Engage in productive collaboration with colleagues while maintaining open communication with parents.
- Exhibit adaptability in routine management to capitalize on teachable moments while setting an example for children and staff.
- Maintain Professionalism at All Times
- Adjust to evolving work schedules while supporting the organization’s philosophy.
- Pursue obtaining or upgrading to a Teacher or Associate permit as necessary.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and professionals, ensuring confidentiality regarding all matters related to children, parents, and staff.
- High school diploma is required.
- Knowledge and experience in Early Childhood Education and Child Development are essential.
- Commitment to completing 12-21 units of Early Childhood Education/Child Development coursework as outlined in the Child Development Permit Matrix System.
- A valid Associate Permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, State of California.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply; proficiency in Spanish (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding) is required.
