Job Overview

We are actively seeking passionate and committed Substitute Teachers to deliver high school-level education to adult learners aged 18 and older during the absence of regular instructors. This role is primarily conducted remotely, with the flexibility to engage from various learning centers throughout California, including counties such as Nevada, Riverside, Monterey, Kern, Los Angeles (Antelope Valley), Merced, Ventura, and Butte. The ideal candidate will possess experience in diverse cultural environments and a comprehensive grasp of language acquisition strategies, utilizing both synchronous and asynchronous teaching modalities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Substitute Teacher, you will:

• Prepare and present engaging, multi-disciplinary lessons tailored for a diverse student population in a self-contained classroom setting.
• Implement and oversee multiple-subject courses through the Canvas learning management system, ensuring accessibility and active engagement.
• Observe, evaluate, and assess student performance, providing constructive feedback on both online and in-class assignments.
• Timely grade assignments, tests, and projects and maintain an organized classroom gradebook within the Aeries student information system, adhering to recognized grading standards.
• Collaborate with the school counselor to guide students regarding employment opportunities, career pathways, and further educational options.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, assisting students in establishing and upholding standards for behavior and engagement.
• Develop and deliver culturally relevant lessons that cater to the needs of a diverse adult student demographic.
• Engage in the creation of innovative educational activities to enrich student learning experiences.
• Uphold and advocate the core values established by the organization, ensuring that actions align with the mission and vision.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Must hold a 30-day substitute permit or a multiple-subject/single-subject teaching credential.
• Previous experience with rural and farm-working communities is preferred but not mandatory.
