Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and process commercial insurance applications, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and corporate objectives.
- Uphold high standards of service while remaining informed about commercial products, pricing, and coverage alternatives.
- Implement underwriting guidelines, authority levels, and industry best practices to meet quality and profitability targets.
- Engage in effective communication and negotiation with agents, policyholders, and internal teams.
- Provide support in training and mentoring new underwriters and underwriting technicians.
- Utilize various systems and tools to aid in achieving overall business objectives.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including continuing education.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and strong computer skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with agents, policyholders, and internal teams.
- A Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Prior experience in commercial underwriting with a Property & Casualty insurance carrier is highly valued.
- Industry certifications such as General Insurance (AINS) or advanced designations (CPCU, AU) are advantageous.
