Full-Time Remote Bookkeeper Position

We are in search of a meticulous and reliable Bookkeeper to oversee the financial operations and maintain accurate records for a distinguished high-net-worth family and their affiliated small businesses. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality and discretion, with direct reporting to family members and no external reporting responsibilities. While primarily an on-site role, there is limited flexibility for hybrid work to accommodate personal scheduling needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping for Small Hospitality & Entertainment Business
    • Perform monthly reconciliations and categorize expenses by department.
    • Prepare financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and year-end basis for management.
    • Assist in forecasting to guide strategic business planning.
    • Maintain the general ledger with accurate entries for all business transactions.
  • Full-Charge Bookkeeping for Family-Owned Management Company
    • Ensure precise financial record-keeping for the consulting management company.
    • Generate comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Financial Oversight for Annual Four-Day Exposition/Convention
    • Manage record-keeping for a family-run exposition held in Chicago, IL.
    • Develop event-specific financial reports and oversee event budgets.
  • Personal Financial Record-Keeping
    • Maintain confidential and accurate records for personal family finances.
  • Collaboration with External Professionals
    • Summarize information from estate attorneys, investment advisors, CPAs, and other consultants.
    • Provide clear and concise reports and insights to the family based on professional recommendations.
Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping, personal finance, or accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in communicating financial information to non-financial individuals.
  • Experience collaborating with external advisors, including CPAs and attorneys.
