Key Responsibilities
- Launch and oversee the NPD program aligned with strategic growth objectives.
- Define, implement, and enhance a stage-gate process to expedite time-to-market while upholding high standards of product quality and market relevance.
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for NPD, ensuring clear milestones and deliverables.
- Assess and prioritize new product opportunities through market analysis and customer insights.
- Manage product development initiatives to adhere to established processes, quality benchmarks, budgetary constraints, and timelines.
- Lead the Voice of the Customer (VOC) initiative to incorporate customer feedback into product design.
- Conduct insightful customer interviews and surveys to gather intelligence on market needs and prospective opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle, working closely with Engineering, Production, Marketing, and Sales.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, balancing speed with quality for sustainable success.
- Ensure new products are designed for manufacturability by closely collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering.
- Guide the transition of designs to the Engineering team, ensuring clarity and efficiency during the hand-off.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of new products over time.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on the progress of NPD activities, including milestones and outcomes.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Product Design, or a related discipline.
- 5 years of experience in product development or R&D, ideally within the industrial, electrical, or manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with electrical equipment manufacturing is advantageous.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Proficient project management abilities with demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in managing and defining stage-gate processes for new product development.
- Strong capability in developing and overseeing Voice of the Customer programs.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies in product development.
- A strategic mindset focused on commercial viability and quicker time-to-market.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
