Key Responsibilities
- Drive the development and execution of the New Product Development (NPD) program to align with strategic growth goals.
- Establish and uphold a stage gate process that guarantees a streamlined and high-caliber product development pipeline.
- Articulate clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), milestones, and accountability measures for all NPD projects.
- Identify, assess, and rank new product opportunities through market analysis and customer feedback.
- Ensure adherence to established stage gate processes while meeting quality, cost, and timeline benchmarks.
- Lead the Voice of the Customer (VOC) program to weave customer insights into product design and functionality.
- Conduct interviews, surveys, and feedback sessions to uncover market needs and identify opportunities.
- Utilize VOC insights to guide product concepts and enhancements.
- Oversee interdisciplinary teams throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring effective collaboration between Engineering, Production, Marketing, and Sales.
- Collaborate with external partners such as design consultants and prototyping vendors to bring innovative products to market.
- Manage timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring a delicate balance between swift market entry and product integrity.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure products are optimized for manufacturability and smoothly transition into production.
- Implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate new product success, including metrics such as sales performance and post-launch assessments over one, two, and three-year periods.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership regarding product development progress, milestones, and outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Product Design, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, R&D, or a comparable role, preferably within the industrial, electrical, or manufacturing sectors.
- Background in electrical equipment manufacturing is advantageous.
- Proven project management expertise with a successful track record of leading cross-functional teams.
- Experience in defining and managing stage gate processes for product development.
- Knowledge of Voice of the Customer (VOC) methodologies and their application in product strategy.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies in product development.
- Strategic mindset with an emphasis on commercial viability and timely execution.
- Excellent communication and leadership capabilities to foster collaboration and drive results.
- Strong analytical proficiency, including skills in electrical and mechanical testing analysis.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other relevant tools.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience is a plus.
