In this critical role, you will lead the design and execution of transmission projects that encompass generation tie lines for renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and battery storage, in addition to standalone transmission lines. You will oversee the entire project lifecycle—from initial design through to construction and commissioning—ensuring adherence to technical excellence and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the design process for transmission projects, ensuring compliance with technical standards and project objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to secure essential resources, permits, and approvals.
- Formulate comprehensive project scopes, assess bids, and allocate contracts for engineering services.
- Supervise the preparation and distribution of engineering documentation and project deliverables throughout all phases.
- Act as a technical advisor, providing expertise in value engineering and maintaining the quality of designs.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the development, design, and construction of high-voltage (HV) transmission lines.
- Proficient in engineering tools such as PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project.
- Strong project management capabilities, with a proven ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills that foster collaboration among diverse teams.
- Willingness to travel within North America as required.
- Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) is preferred.
- Experience with project management software like Primavera is an advantage.
- Familiarity with renewable energy projects and applicable regulatory standards is desirable.
