Remote Principal Engineer - Transmission Line

Job Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Transmission Line Principal Engineer to take a key position in the design and execution of transmission projects, encompassing generation tie lines associated with wind, solar, and battery energy storage, alongside standalone transmission lines. This role encompasses the entire project lifecycle—from initial concept through to construction and commissioning—ensuring both technical excellence and on-time project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the design process for transmission projects, ensuring alignment with technical standards and overarching project objectives.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to facilitate the acquisition of necessary resources, permits, and approvals.
• Formulate detailed project scopes, assess bids, and assign contracts for engineering services.
• Direct the preparation and submission of engineering documentation and deliverables throughout all project stages.
• Act as a technical advisor, providing expertise in value engineering while ensuring the integrity of designs.
  
  

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the development, design, and construction of high-voltage (HV) transmission lines.
• Proficient in industry-standard tools such as PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project.
• Strong project management abilities, capable of overseeing multiple projects concurrently.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to promote collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel across North America as necessary.
  
  

Qualifications

• Preferred certifications include Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Experience with project management software such as Primavera is advantageous.
• Familiarity with renewable energy initiatives and relevant regulatory frameworks is desirable.
