Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a global team of experts to advance the development and upkeep of Ubuntu Server packages.
• Optimize the user experience for a wide array of applications and workloads.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in partnership with upstream projects.
• Uphold rigorous software standards by reviewing submissions from fellow engineers.
• Take ownership of maintaining Ubuntu Server packages focusing on various areas, including traditional server workloads, virtualization, and language runtimes.
• Engage with the Ubuntu and Debian communities, contributing to upstream projects and fostering strong customer relationships.
  
  

Required Skills

• Proficiency in distribution development or debugging software.
• Experience in creating test environments and ensuring reproducibility.
• Ability to optimize complex workloads effectively.
• Coding expertise in languages such as Python, Go, or Rust.
• Knowledge of software packaging or distribution.
• Familiarity with public cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud).
  
  

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, STEM, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in software development, specifically within open-source environments, is highly regarded.
