Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our innovative Accounting team. This pivotal role encompasses various accounting functions, including month-end closing processes, account reconciliations, and in-depth financial analysis. If you possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP) and have relevant experience in the transportation or logistics sectors, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end accounting activities, such as preparing journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
• Conduct research on data inputs and outcomes related to shipping and freight expenditure.
• Analyze trends in freight and shipping expenses to pinpoint potential discrepancies.
• Collaborate with the finance team to evaluate monthly P&L statements and scrutinize variances against budgetary constraints.
• Work closely with operations, transportation, data, and IT teams to improve efficiencies and share insights.
• Document all accounting procedures and policies to strengthen internal controls.
• Support external audit and tax teams by preparing schedules and supplying necessary data and explanations.
• Review shipping data, costs, contracts, and modifications to determine appropriate accounting treatments.
• Assess critical accounting estimates and assumptions regarding expense recognition and monthly results.
• Assist with special projects and other tasks as required.
  
  

Required Skills

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years within the transportation/logistics field.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
• CPA certification is highly preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of transportation-specific accounting principles.
• Advanced skills in accounting software, database management, and Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in transportation management software (TMS) is advantageous.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Capability to thrive in a lean, dynamic accounting environment.
