Join Our Esteemed Accounting Team as a Senior Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our esteemed Accounting team, where your expertise will be crucial in driving our financial integrity and performance. In this remote role, you will engage in a variety of key accounting functions, including month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and comprehensive financial analysis. If you possess a solid grasp of accounting principles (US GAAP), along with experience in the transportation or logistics sectors, we invite you to explore this opportunity with us.

Key Responsibilities

• Month-End Accounting: Execute journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure precise financial reporting.
• Data Analysis: Investigate and analyze data connected to shipping and freight costs, identifying trends and discrepancies.
• Financial Review: Partner with the finance team to assess monthly P&L statements and scrutinize variances against budget expectations.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with operations, transportation, data, and IT teams to enhance operational efficiencies and knowledge-sharing.
• Documentation: Sustain thorough narratives of all accounting procedures and policies to bolster internal controls.
• Audit Support: Assist external audit and tax teams by preparing schedules and offering necessary documentation and explanations.
• Accounting Treatment: Analyze shipping data, expenses, contracts, and modifications to determine suitable accounting treatment.
• Critical Analysis: Review accounting estimates and assumptions related to expense recognition, and examine monthly outcomes.
• Project Assistance: Contribute to special projects and ad hoc assignments as required.
• Additional Responsibilities: Assume other duties as necessary to support the team.
  
  

Required Skills

• 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years within the transportation/logistics sector.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
• CPA certification is strongly preferred.
• Proficient understanding of transportation-specific accounting principles.
• Advanced capabilities in accounting software, database management, and Microsoft Excel. Experience with transportation management software (TMS) is advantageous.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to excel in a lean, dynamic accounting environment.
