Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial counsel to senior management concerning planning, budgeting, cash flow management, and investment priorities.
- Ensure transparent communication with the Executive Director, delivering timely updates on significant financial matters.
- Prepare and present insightful financial reports to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee.
- Contribute to the formulation of strategic objectives that bolster the organization's financial stability.
- Oversee contract and agreement management, ensuring compliance and alignment with organizational goals.
- Promote a culture of fiscal responsibility by implementing robust financial processes and internal controls.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external financial affairs, including banking and audit engagements.
- Oversee daily financial operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accounting, budgeting, and reporting.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on compensation planning and prepare annual incentive proposals based on financial performance.
- Manage the invoicing processes related to grants and services, ensuring prompt payment.
- Lead internal audits and oversee tax return preparation, ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
- Provide accounting support to the Development team for fundraising initiatives.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong collaborative skills, enabling effective teamwork and communication across diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated and capable of presenting financial data effectively.
- A deep commitment to the organization's mission and values.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a CPA or advanced degree is highly desirable.
- At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing nonprofit financial statements and effectively presenting financial data.
- Proven expertise in managing nonprofit audits and preparing tax documentation.
